Things you should DO

• Discuss boundaries and decide on a safe action or word
  
• Practice tying and untying knots beforehand
  
• Have a pair of blunt scissors handy. Ideally, they should slant like EMT scissors
  
• Remove restraints carefully to prevent rope burn or flicking your partner's eyes
  
• And lastly, stop immediately if your partner experiences signs of circulatory problems or pain
  

Things you should NOT DO

• Try suspension bondage on your partner without proper training
  
• Engage in rope bondage if your partner has a circulatory, respiratory or heart condition
  
• Leave your partner unattended
• Play in the dark, since your partner needs to be watched over
  
• Tie knots too tightly; allow additional space around the rib cage and follow the 2-finger rule
  
• Restrict breathing in any way
